Fund Model
Chess applies a strategic investment model to the problem of getting
startups past a critical threshold of stability and credibility.
Working with Chess shareholders—large overseas financial institutions—the fund creates a
network of potential partners and customers for its portfolio companies. Chess shareholders
help to evaluate nascent technologies, provide guidance on feature sets and internationalization,
and, by purchasing and adopting technologies, lend their name-brand endorsements.
At an early stage, the “tipping point” effect of such endorsements can be pronounced,
particularly when it results in a wider seeding of the technology internationally.
